GET TO KNOW … LEVI HUMMON
- Levi Hummon’s debut single is called “Guts and Glory.”
- Levi was studying painting at Eckerd College in Florida before deciding to transfer to Belmont University in Nashville to pursue music more seriously. He stayed at Belmont for less than six months before he was signed to a publishing deal by Desmond Child and left college to pursue music full time.
- It was being dumped pretty badly by a girl when he was a freshman in college that spurred Levi’s passion for songwriting as an emotional outlet.
- Levi’s dad is Marcus Hummon, a hugely successful songwriter, who’s written such songs as Rascal Flatts’ “Bless the Broken Road,” The Dixie Chicks “Cowboy Take Me Away” and Tim McGraw’s “One of These Days.”
- Levi lives about a block away from his parents in Nashville and he says, “I love it. I can steal food out of the fridge, but at the same time I’m far enough that I can have my space.”
