Thomas Rhett kicked off his first headlining tour, The Home Team Tour, less than two weeks ago, and he admits he was terrified. Thomas explains, “The biggest show that I’ve ever put on sale with my name on it was at a little club in Wild Bill’s and I think it held 4,000 people, so when my team was like, ‘I think we should get out and go do this now,’ I was like, ‘Nope. I don’t want to do it. I wanna keep building and opening for my idols. Because I’d been the middle slot for Florida Georgia Line and Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan and those people and I just kept learning from them. I think I was terrified to go out and have all that pressure be on me.”
The first weekend out, Thomas played three sold out shows and he says, “(It) was just overwhelming … all those people, they’re there to see everybody, but your name is on the ticket now. And you get to play as long as you want and you get to play songs from the first record, and they know them, which is fun. And just the energy, honestly, of being a headliner and being crazy terrified about it and watching it actually work was just one of the coolest feelings ever.”
