(AUDIO) Thomas Rhett Trying To Live In The Moment With His Debut Album

Thomas Rhett will release his debut album, It Goes Like This, on October 29th, but he’s already started thinking about his second album.  “You have your whole life to write your first record and less than six months to write the rest of them.  So that’s a scary thought,” he says.  He’s obviously been working on his debut album for a while and he says, “Your first record you try to pick all the best possible songs that you can.  And then for your second one, you hope to God that you can write a bunch of good ones between now and then or you get pitched a bunch of good ones.”  But before he gets too far ahead of himself he says, “I’m trying not to worry about that.  I’m really focused on record one right now, learning how to take those songs off the record and really make ‘em awesome in our live show.”  With the title track going number one just as he’s about to release his album, Thomas says, “Putting out a first record is something you only do once.  I think we finally have the single that is gonna spur sales and hopefully a bunch of people will want to buy it and wanna learn the words to it and come to our shows and sing their lungs out.”

Thomas Rhett – new album finally coming out  :45
“You have your whole life to write your first record and less than six months to write the rest of them.  So that’s a scary thought.  You know, your first record you try to pick all the best possible songs that you can.  And then for your second one, you hope to God that you can write a bunch of good ones between now and then or you get pitched a bunch of good ones.  But I’m trying not to worry about that.  I’m really focused on record one right now, learning how to take those songs off the record and really make ‘em awesome in our live show.  Try to think of cool different things to do, ways to change them up, ways to make fans be like, ‘Oh, this is that song but he’s doing it so different.  It’s cool.’  So, putting out a first record is something you only do once.  I think we finally have the single that is gonna spur sales and hopefully a bunch of people will want to buy it and wanna learn the words to it and come to our shows and sing their lungs out.”
