Thomas Rhett’s dad, Rhett Akins, had his own successful country music career in the 90’s, and he is now a hugely successful songwriter in Nashville, having written hit songs for Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, Jason Aldean, Dustin Lynch and many others, including numerous hits he’s written for and with Thomas Rhett. It’s special for Thomas to get to write songs with his dad, but he says there’s one memory in particular with his dad that might be his favorite.

“Most of the time when we write we’re on the road, and 2019 my dad opened for me, so we were with each other, you know, for 55 shows. And we’d get up at 11 and write songs until meet and greet and do it again after the show. And one of the coolest memories of my dad I think that I’ll have for forever, is getting to actually tour with him.”
