Thomas Rhett is a successful songwriter and he’s always writing new music, which can sometimes be a challenge, because while his fans are excited about and loving things he wrote two or three years ago on his debut album, he’s excited about the newest thing he may have written. Thomas says, “You could get done with mastering and everything on your first record and then you go write with someone and you write the best song that you’ve ever written in your life and you can’t do anything about it. So, it’s really cool for the fans but a lot of the time, it’s one of those things that you wish fans could live it like you live it, and be as up-to-date as you are with your own songs that you’re writin’. But it’s just impossible.”
As much as Thomas wants to share the newest song he’s written with his fans, he knows when they come to see him perform live, they want to hear the hits and the music they’re familiar with, like his latest single, “Get Me Some of That.” “They have no idea what you wrote that day,” Thomas acknowledges.
“All they care about is they wanna hear that one song on the record that they came to hear, and you gotta realize that, and you gotta go out there and kill it every night and play the songs you’ve been playin’ for three years like it’s the first time you’ve ever played ‘em.”
