(AUDIO) Thomas Rhett Is Happy But Nervous To Be The Soundtrack To People’s Lives

It’s always flattering when fans tell Thomas Rhett that how one of his songs has become a part of their life, or how they associate certain memories with his music, but at the same time he says it can be kind of scary. He explains, “When one of your songs becomes a memory for somebody they hope that the rest of your songs become a memory for ‘em. And so for me as an artist, I always want to produce songs that … you know, people always ask you where you were when something happened … and I just hope that my songs, when they hear them for the first time, in ten years they can look back and be like, ‘Man I remember where I was when I heard that song and what it did to me and what it made me feel like.’

Thomas says knowing that he could become the soundtrack to people’s lives makes him want to always write songs that people can relate to, or to pick great songs from other writers like his latest single, “Get Me Some of That.”

“It’s cool, but it’s also kind of a scary spot to be in, ‘cause when one of your songs becomes a memory for somebody they hope that the rest of your songs become a memory for ‘em. And so for me as a artist, I always want to produce songs that, you know, people always ask you where you were when something happened, or, like my Dad is a history buff and he knows more about Classic Rock and all kind a music than anybody and he can tell you where he was when he heard a song for the first time. Where he was when he bought ‘Pour Some Sugar On Me’ for the first time or what play they were running in football when a certain song came on the loud speaker. And like, I just hope that my songs, when they hear them for the first time, in ten years they can look back and like, man I remember where I was when I heard that song and what it did to me and what it made me feel like. So, I don’t know, it’s one of those things that makes you always wanna write songs that people can relate to, and people will remember.”
