(AUDIO) Thomas Rhett Enjoys Freedom and Support of Record Label

It was a couple of years ago that Thomas Rhett signed his record deal with The Valory Music Co., which is part of the Big Machine Label Group, and he says the relationship has been a great one for him. Thomas has some definite ideas about who he is as an artist and a songwriter and he says, “When I was first startin’ out makin’ a record, I didn’t know how to make a record. I’d never made a record before. So, I was very thankful people were there to kinda guide me along that path, and we ended up makin’ a really cool first record, and without those guys I couldn’t have done it.”

Thomas admits he and his label don’t always agree on every decision when it comes to his music, but he says, “Yeah, I feel like there’s always gonna be a disagreement, but where there’s disagreement there comes a lotta good too ‘cause you start to figure each other out.”

He also appreciates the way the head of his label, Scott Borchetta, allows him to be himself. He says, “It’s kinda like I could go write the weirdest song in the world and send it to Scott and Scott would be like, man this is really weird, but I admire your creativity… So I’ve always just felt at home and just very free and open to do.”

Thomas is busy working on his sophomore album, while his current single, “Make Me Wanna,” continues to climb the chart.

Thomas Rhett – relationship with label :40
“Yeah, I feel like there’s always gonna be a disagreement, but where there’s disagreement there comes a lotta good too ‘cause you start to figure each other out. So, I was very thankful people were there to kinda guide me along that path, and we ended up makin’ a really cool first record, and without those guys I couldn’t have done it. But one of the biggest reasons I signed at Big Machine was because of the freedom that I felt with them. It was kinda like I could go write the weirdest song in the world and send it to Scott and Scott would be like, man this is really weird, but I admire your creativity. Just like an answer like that or somethin’. So I’ve always just felt at home and just very free and open to do. So it’s just been a lotta fun bein’ over there and bein’ able to have that kinda freedom.”
