(AUDIO) THOMAS RHETT BELIEVES VARIETY IS THE SPICE OF SONGWRITING

current single: “AIN’T A BAD LIFE” ft. Jordan Davis

Thomas Rhett has a core group of songwriters he writes with in Nashville, but over the last several years he has branched out and found writers who primarily make their living writing songs in other genres, which has helped him continue to explore new sounds and styles in his own music and expand his own writing capabilities.

Thomas Rhett – branching out with writers :45

“I think I’ve always, I mean, if you listen to my music, you know that I’ve always been drawn to other sounds, whether it’s R &B or hip hop or pop or jazz or Sinatra or whatever it is. I think that’s the beautiful thing about songwriters, no matter what genre you call yourself, whether these guys are pop writers or there’s hip hop writers or whatever, we all can write songs that can relate to people. The words may be different and the phrasing might be different and the rhythm might be different than Nashville but there’s a whole lot more similarities than you would think with pop writers and Nashville writers. And now I don’t know anybody that doesn’t swap and go do a month in LA and then do a month in Nashville and then go do a month in London with that whole crew. You just never know what you’re gonna get and there’s always like one or two of those songs on a record that really stand out as going, ‘I don’t know if I could have written this in Nashville.’”
