(AUDIO) Steven Tyler First Considered A Country Cover Album

When Steven Tyler first thought of recording country music, it turns out his initial thought was to do a country cover album. Steven explains, “I met Scott Borchetta (President & CEO of the Big Machine Label Group) for the first time at a Carole King benefit for MusiCares. And we had just come off stage and I was sitting at the table and he came up to me so graciously and introduced himself and told me that he had a label and was down in Nashville, which spurred me telling him I was thinking of doing a solo project in the future, and if I ever did one, I would love to do Everly Brothers cover album.”

Scott told Steven if he ever made it to Nashville to look him up, so when Steven visited Music City for the 2014 CMA Awards he met up with Scott and he says, “the rest is history.” As for that cover album, once Steven got to town and started writing with some of Nashville’s most talented songwriters and amassing a pile of original songs that would work on a country album, he decided to go with an original project instead of a cover album as his first foray into country music.

Steven’s original debut country album will feature his new single, “Love Is Your Name,” and he hopes to be finished with the project sometime this fall.
