(AUDIO) Steven Tyler Explains The Origin of His Microphone Scarves

Steven Tyler is known for having scarves adorning his microphone when he performs live, and he says it all started years and years ago when he played the college and club circuit in Massachusetts. He says, “We did four 45 minute sets, sweated, I was soakin’ wet and I used to wear this shirt and after three months of that, the shirt just turned into rags, and I would hang it as a rights of passage on the mic stand. So, one thing led to another…”

Eventually, Steven transitioned from remnants of his sweaty, worn-out shirt, to scarves on his mic stand, and ever since then they’ve been one of his trademarks. Steven just released his brand new single, “Red, White and You,” from his forthcoming album on Dot Records.
