Mackenzie Carpenter is an accomplished songwriter, not only co-writing every song on her debut album, Hey Country Queen, but also writing songs for other people, like Megan Moroney’s current single, “You Should Be Here.” Mackenzie says songwriting was something that came pretty instinctually to her.

“I really jumped into songwriting once I got to Nashville because it seemed like that was something that I knew how to do. I didn’t have a producer, I didn’t have a vision, I didn’t know how to like record my music and put it out there. But I could show up every day and write a song. I had an idea, I had a melody, I could figure that out.”
