(AUDIO) Scott Borchetta Says Studio Performance Is Just As Important As Stage Performance On Idol

Scott Borchetta, President and CEO of Big Machine Label Group, is acting as the mentor on this season of American Idol, and he says the way the contestants perform in the studio is just as important as how they perform live on stage in determining a winner. “It’s so important that, not only do they give great performances on television, but they can go in the studio and really create magic there,” says Scott. “And I don’t know if it’s so much of a pet peeve, but you hear certain phrases, and certain things that you go; whoa, whoa, whoa, hold on, you’re hooking your R’s in the studio, you can’t do that. And so there are certain things I’m always looking for and listening to, just to try to make them as strong as they possibly can be.”

You can see Scott mentoring the contestants on American Idol every Wednesday night on FOX.

Scott Borchetta – studio is important :37
“Having all the contestants in the studio is another very telling element of who really has what it takes to be the next ‘American Idol’. It’s so important that, not only do they give great performances on television, but they can go in the studio and really create magic there. And I don’t know if it’s so much of a pet peeve, but you hear certain phrases, and certain things that you go; whoa, whoa, whoa, hold on, you’re hooking your Rs in the studio, you can’t do that.
