Big Machine Label Group President and CEO, Scott Borchetta, is serving as the in-house mentor this year on American Idol, and he says his job is to advise the contestants and give them the best guidance he can, but whether they take it or not is a different story. “Behind the scenes, literally we’re running from room to room, working with them in real time, making sure we have the best possible song for them,” says Scott, “but at the end of the day it’s their own choice. I could say, ‘This is the song that I really suggest you do this week,’ and if they don’t do it, it’s really up to them.”
Scott says some of the contestants have a great song sense and know what they should be singing, and some not so much. He can only hope that he’s able to guide them in the right direction and that they’ll take his expert advice.
You can see Scott mentoring the American Idol contestants next Thursday night on FOX.
