Back when Brooks & Dunn first started in country music, social media, like Facebook and Twitter weren’t a thing, but these days, they’re a vital part of any singer’s career, and Ronnie Dunn has learned to embrace it. He says, “I think the growth of social media and its relevance to the music business and just about anything else out there is a cool way to stay in touch with people and you get immediate feedback, and you do.”
Ronnie, who just released his brand new single, “I Worship the Woman You Walked On,” has also learned to understand the numbers game when it comes to social media and that it’s not necessarily about the number of followers you have, but the number of people you reach. For instance, he says, “I feel like I’m lucky I have a pretty well-established Facebook page. I think there was one particular post that not long ago that we actually hit 64 million people. So I don’t look for the numbers on the front page to say there’s, you know, three million or 10 million people. That’s not the important part. The actual important dynamic of using social media is your effective outreach.”
And with great reach comes great responsibility, which is why Ronnie says, “You’ve got to be careful what you say, or if you’re gonna say it, stand by it.”
