(AUDIO) RILEY GREEN TALKS WRITING ALONE VS CO-WRITING

current single: “DON’T MIND IF I DO” featuring Ella Langley

Riley Green is fortunate that he’s proven he can write a great song all by himself and he can co-write great songs with other people. Writing songs alone isn’t always easy, but Riley explains how it was really a skill born out of necessity until he had the opportunity to write with some of the guys who have become his favorite writing partners.

Riley Green – writing alone vs co-writing :38

“I’d written a lot of songs and put out a lot of songs early on in my career. And I didn’t co -write because nobody would write with me. I mean, I was nobody. I was just playin’ shows and writin’ songs. So, that was never something that crossed my mind. And when I first started comin’ to Nashville, I was really fortunate. I stumbled upon a lot of my, I say, best writing partners, just people I feel were really comfortable writing with, pretty early on. Randy Montana, Jonathan Singleton, Tyler Reeve, Erik Dylan, Rhett Akins. The benefit to writin’ with some of those guys is those days when you don’t have it, I guess you’d say. I mean, it’s not every day you wake up and write a song. Those guys can pick you up and they have ideas that I wouldn’t think of.”
