(AUDIO) RECONSTRUCTING HIS SET LIST FOR EVERY TOUR IS ALWAYS A CHALLENGE FOR THOMAS RHETT

current single: “AIN’T A BAD LIFE” ft. Jordan Davis

One of the biggest challenges for Thomas Rhett when he launches a new tour is getting the set list just right. It’s not as simple as just putting together a list of his songs and then going out and playing them every night. Thomas admits that he and his band invest hours in building the set list and then tweaking it even after the tour has launched.

Thomas Rhett –  building set list :42

“We record all of our concerts, and me and the band, we used to sit on the bus the next day and listen through our entire concert we did the night before.  And we would pick it to shreds.  We would be like, ‘Hey that part was boring. We played a new song right there, but no one wanted a new song, they just wanted to get a beer right there and come back for Die A Happy Man.’ So, it was like, how do you craft a show where there is never a part of the show where someone feels like, okay, now is the time I was gonna tell my friend that I came with what I was gonna tell her. You know what I mean? Like, how do you keep people engaged for 90 minutes? And it is just kind of the luck of the draw with the set list. And every now and then you land on one that just works the whole year. But you can’t do that again the next year, especially for repeat people that come back to the show, they want to see something different.”
