(AUDIO) PRESTON COOPER’S MOM IS THANKFUL THE WARREN BROTHERS WEREN’T SERIAL KILLERS

debut single: “WEAK

Preston Cooper is originally from Ohio, and while he’s so talented that he would have eventually found a way to break into the music business in Nashville on his own, he got a big break when The Warren Brothers took an interest in him and helped introduce him to a lot of important people and songwriters in Nashville, and helped open some doors for Preston. Brad and Brett Warren are very successful songwriters, having written songs like “Felt Good On My Lips” and “Highway Don’t Care” for Tim McGraw, “Red Solo Cup” for Toby Keith, “Lights Come On” for Jason Aldean. “Sober Saturday Night” for Chris Young, and many others, and Preston explains how their paths crossed at a random hotel lounge gig in Toledo, Ohio.

Preston Cooper – how met Warren Brothers :51

“So, I got a call for a gig in Toledo, Ohio. It’s about a two-hour drive from me, and he said, ‘Hey, you’re gonna open up for some Nashville songwriters.’ I was like, ‘Oh cool.’ I had no idea who they were. So, I went up, played 45 minutes, and it was during cocktail hour. So, it was kinda weird, ’cause everybody’s just talking while I’m singing. And like, the only two people listening to me were the Warren Brothers in the back. They kept coming out of their meet and greet, and their manager was like, ‘Hey, you gotta meet these people.’ And they’re like, ‘Well, we wanna listen to this kid.’ So yeah, after I was done, they wanted to talk to me. So, I went back and chatted with them before their show and we just really connected, you know? And they’re like, ‘Hey, come to Nashville.’ So. like three weeks later, I drove down to Nashville for the first time and stayed with them. My mom was like, ‘Are they serial killers?’ It was so funny. But that’s kinda how I met them. It was really wild ’cause it was like, in a Holiday Inn, in the middle of nowhere, Toledo.”
