current single: “I DARE YOU” with The Jonas Brothers
Memorial Day is next Monday, May 26th, and when Gary LeVox of Rascal Flatts thinks about the holiday, he thinks about all of his family members who are veterans, and he also remembers a very sobering and life-changing experience Rascal Flatts had early on in their career, when they got to travel overseas to perform for some of America’s troops who were serving on the front lines in Iraq.
Rascal Flatts – Memorial Day Gary :38
“Memorial Day has always meant something special to me. My cousin and some of my really, really good friends fought in the first Desert Storm I talk to them every Memorial Day, and my grandfather was in the service, and you know, my wife’s grandfather They all fought in World War II. And you know, we went to Iraq in 2005 and it really kind of changed all three of our lives. You never know the price of freedom until you stand in the middle of a combat zone in a foreign country with 18 and 19-year-old kids that are absolute studs. They are the true root of what red, white, and blue means. And that was something that I’ll never forget. And so, from that day on, Memorial Day even meant more to me.”
