Brett Young has a huge reverence for those who choose to serve our country in the military because he has several family members who have dedicated their lives to that mission. It’s those family members’ service and sacrifice, and the blessed fortune they had to be able to return home safely to their families, that makes Memorial Day an extra special holiday for Brett.

“Memorial Day is interesting for me because I guess I’m one of the fortunate ones that, as far back as I know in my family, we haven’t had any significant loss, in terms of somebody serving our country. And I go back and forth between feeling fortunate and feeling guilty for that cause I know so many families have lost so many loved ones that have served our country. And I guess where I’ve landed with it all is just feeling grateful. It’s a day for me to feel appreciative of the freedoms that have been given me because of all those people. And you know I wouldn’t get to do what I do and I wouldn’t get to enjoy the freedoms that I do if there weren’t people that had gone and made those sacrifices. And so, once I kinda realized that it’s about the freedoms we enjoy in this country, it became a really, really special holiday for me.”
