(AUDIO) MACKENZIE CARPENTER’S ‘I WISH YOU WOULD’ PLAYS IT COY UNTIL IT DOESN’T

current single: “I WISH YOU WOULD” featuring Midland

Mackenzie Carpenter’s duet with Midland, “I Wish You Would,” starts out a little coy, but ends up as a pretty bold and sexy song, and Mackenzie loves that it eases into its very direct point.

“’I Wish You Would’ is a song that just says it like it is. It starts with a whole, you know, tension, flirtationship, beating around the bush of like, ‘Are you gonna make a move? Am I gonna make the move? Are we doing this? Are we not? Are you into this? Are you not?’ And so then finally at the end, we were like, we just gotta say, ‘if you wanna take me home, I’ll say it so you know. I wish, I wish, I wish you would.’ Because there is nothing wrong with being saying what you want. You know, I think we got to do that more these days. So, I’m thankful to have a song that has both sides of that coin.”
