(AUDIO) MACKENZIE CARPENTER CREDITS MUSIC FOR STRENGTHING THE BOND WITH HER BROTHER

brand new single: “I WISH YOU WOULD” featuring Midland

Mackenzie Carpenter’s brother, Micah, is one of her frequent co-writers, he plays in her touring band, and he’s one of her best friends, now. But Mackenzie admits it wasn’t until they got older and started bonding over music that they started to get along and formed the close relationship they have now.

Mackenzie Carpenter – relationship with Micah :45

“Me and Micah, we have a lot of similarities and we did not get along for a long time. Like there was a point of our lives where like we probably hated each other and we would always get in trouble. We would fight. I would pinch him, I would like scratch him like all through middle school. We just got in the biggest fights. And then he actually went to a different high school than me which was 45 minutes away. He went to Jefferson, the same high school as Brantley Gilbert. So once he left and we got a little bit of space, we kind of started honestly bonding over music, that we had this similarity, this dream that we both wanted to chase. I started writing songs and then he started writing songs and then he had taught me how to play guitar previously and it really bonded us and like brought us together and now we get to take on the journey together.”
