Nashville is often referred to as a 10-year town, because that’s about how long it takes most artists who move to Nashville before they begin to experience any kind of success. Preston Cooper is one of those rare artists who defied the odds and landed a record deal within a couple of years from the time he started visiting Nashville to write songs, and he says there has definitely been a bit of a learning curve and some things he had to learn on the fly about being an artist.

Preston Cooper – learning curve of becoming artist :33

“To be an artist takes a lot of energy, a lot of commitment, a lot of hard work. I think one of the biggest things for me that was a struggle was learning how to sing the song correctly and deliver the song. Phrasing was a huge one for me, and I just never did it, and I had to make a record in four weeks. And that’s where my engineer, Mills, and Brett and Brad (Warren) really helped me just hone my craft and be who I am now. So, it was kind of a stressful time, really. It was. I had some hard times in there making the album. It was just so much happening at once.”
