(AUDIO) Justin Moore Prefers To Write How He Would Speak

Justin Moore has been working on his next album, which will feature his latest single, “You Look Like I Need a Drink.” He’s been doing some writing for the album, and when it comes to Nashville songwriters, Justin says, “Probably my favorite songwriter in town over the last 20 years is Alan Jackson. He’s written a lot of songs about home, and my favorite thing about him as a songwriter is he writes it like he would talk it. He might rhyme two things and you’re like, ‘That don’t rhyme,’ but it makes sense, you know?”

Justin says he always takes the same approach when he writes songs for himself, writing lyrics in a style similar to the way he would speak. Justin says, “I think it comes across, to me, as more genuine.” He laughs and adds, everyone knows I don’t talk proper, so why would I write a song where I’m singing proper, you know?”

Justin’s new album doesn’t have a specific release date yet, but it will likely be released in late spring or summer of this year.
