Justin Moore has done hundreds of interviews in his career, and before he became a sports talk radio host, where he gets to interview all kinds of people in the sports world, he didn’t necessarily appreciate the art of a good interview. And Justin says it took him doing a few bad or awkward interviews to realize the most important thing that every great interviewer does.

“Before I did radio, I had a podcast, and we had some great guests on. And what I learned was, I would ask a question and then I would not listen to the answer. I was just like lookin’ at my notes and trying to prepare for the next question instead of following up on the answer. I finally go, ‘You look and sound like a complete idiot.’ I’m like, ‘Just have a conversation with these people!’ And so, that’s what I started doin’ and that kinda helped me. But I do think doing it from the other side of the microphone, I think it made me a better interview as well.”
