current single: “HEAVENS TO BETSY”
If you know anything about Jackson Dean’s story, then you know when he turned 18 he moved out of his family’s house and into a horse tack room on his grandfather’s property. The cinderblock room had no running water, heat or AC, but Jackson explains why he chose to live there for two years.
Jackson Dean – tack room independence :35
“I got tired of living by another man’s leave and sleeping under his roof. I was expected to carry myself as a grown man and not have the freedoms of one, so I said, ‘Yeah, I’m done with that, I’m leaving.’ And it was my dad’s room and my uncle’s room and my brother’s room. It was a massive party den for like 40 years, like thousands of signatures on the wall. It was just a place to throw down and whatnot, but it was some of the best times of my life. Had one outlet and a wood stove in the corner and I’d keep that thing rolling pretty much all the time in the winter and the rest of the time windows would be wide open, you know. I do miss that place a lot sometimes.”
