Greylan James has had a lot of success as a songwriter, having co-written songs for Jordan Davis, Cole Swindell, Kenny Chesney, Chris Young and many others, and Greylan attributes his songwriting abilities to never forgetting about the young country music fan he was as a kid, and the role music played in his life.

Greylan James – approach to writing :31

“What I try to do when I’m writin’ songs is really try to communicate with the person that I was growing up listening to country music before I was like super into it. You know, back then I would listen to music and try to get through a breakup or, you know, when I was going out with my buddies on a Friday night back home, like I always had music on in the background. So, I always just try to remember that people are living their lives to these songs. And so, I really try to take care in that and the writing process and especially the recording process. And when I’m picking the songs I’m gonna put out, I really try to just think about, alright, what would younger Greylan live his life to? ‘Cause I know people are out there doing the same thing.”
