(AUDIO) GREYLAN JAMES RECALLS ONE LIFE-CHANGING SUMMER

debut single: “WAIT TIL YOU HAVE KIDS

With Memorial Day marking the unofficial start of summer, Greylan James can’t help but remember one very special summer five years ago, when Kenny Chesney released his Here and Now album in May of 2020. The release of that album is special to Greylan and his family because it features the song “Happy Does,” which was Greylan’s first major cut as a songwriter. To have a song recorded and released by Kenny Chesney, who is a fellow East Tennessean and one of Greylan’s musical heroes, was an incredibly special achievement his whole family celebrated.

“Honestly, what I remember the most about that whole process was going back home the night that the album came out. Me and my family, we stayed up until midnight and then we went to Target, and we were just waiting for that album to get on the shelf. And I think we bought 30 or 40 copies at that Target in Knoxville. And so, if anybody needs a copy we’ve got an abundance back home. But it was exciting to share with my family because being from Knoxville, it was cool that I was on the album, but also we just grew up massive Kenny Chesney fans. And being from back home, he showed me that I could do this, and so it was the fullest of circles that happened with that.”
