“I’m originally from Connecticut, so I’m a Northeasterner, which is not traditional. And I actually went to high school and college for music in New York City. And I spent a few years touring around New York City. I toured a lot of high schools and colleges and was writing songs, and a manager that I had at the time said, you know, you should really go down to Nashville because your songs have a country stylistic flair. And I came down to Nashville and I went to a show at the Bluebird Cafe and it completely changed my life. I felt like that lightning bolt moment where you feel like these are my people. This is the community that I’ve been waiting for. I’ve been writing and performing here ever since. But honestly the real fire that started my career was touring and having a few key mentors take me under their wing.”
