CURRENT SINGLE: “It’s Cause I Am”
Callista Clark grew up singing in church, and she would sometimes sing songs that were written by her mom, who occasionally wrote Christian songs for the church. And it turns out it was Callista’s mom who got her started in songwriting. “The first song I ever wrote started off as a poem,” Callista explains. “I entered it into a poem contest, and I ended up winning. And my mom was trying to convince me that this was a song… I was like, ‘No it’s not. This is a poem. What are you talking about?’”
But because mom’s are often smarter than we are, and usually right, Callista says, “We ended up turning (the poem) into a song, and it was called ‘Wild fire.’”
After that Callista started writing songs with her mom, and that led to her being able to co-write all of the songs on her debut EP. Real To Me, featuring her debut single, “It’s Cause I Am.”

“The first song I ever wrote started off as a poem. I entered it into a poem contest, and I ended up winning. And my mom was trying to convince me that this was a song, cause she would write stuff – mostly Christian things for the church that I would sing at. I was like, ‘No it’s not. This is a poem. What are you talking about?’ And we ended up turning it into a song, and it was called ‘Wild fire.’ I started writing with my mom after that.”
