current single: “DRINK WITH YOU”
Before music, Brett Young was a successful college baseball pitcher with plans to pitch in the major leagues before he blew out his elbow. That’s when he decided to focus on music, and now looking back, Brett is convinced he was meant to be in music, partly because of one of the things that always bothered him about baseball.
Brett Young – bothered about baseball :34
“One thing I like about music that always bothered me about baseball – maybe it’s the thing that people that are meant to go on to play at that level, maybe it’s the thing that they like, but as a pitcher, I always hated that if I did exactly what was asked of me, if I had good stuff and hit my spot in a count where I was supposed to and the hitter guessed right, I could still lose. I always hated that. You know, I’m throwing a breaking ball on the outside corner exactly when I’m supposed to, and this guy just knew it was coming or guessed right or whatever. With music, if you sound good, you sound good, you sound good. So maybe that’s like a lazy man’s approach. Maybe that’s why this was meant for me and my couch potato self.”
