Brantley Gilbert isn’t one to share his political opinions or get on his soapbox about current events, because he says Kris Kristoferson taught him a long time ago that if he has something to say, he’s a songwriter, so put it in a song. That said, Brantley is not immune to the state of the world. He recognizes that there is a lot of rhetoric and strong emotions and opinions that are creating division in our society, and he thinks it would go a long way if everybody would lighten up a little.

“You know, the climate of our society right now, everybody is so defensive and feelings are way too easily hurt, you know, in my opinion. As heated and as resentful and all this anger and division that’s just built up and we’re witnessing right now, like, we take everything so seriously. Not that we’re not dealing with serious things in society, but everybody’s so quick to be defensive and get their feelings hurt, and, you know, we live in the days where they want everybody to have a trophy. And it’s like, man, deep somewhere in my heart, I truly believe that until we can lighten up a little bit heart-wise, it’s gonna be hard to have a reasonable conversation that changes anything.”
