(AUDIO) Scott Borchetta Thinks Keith Urban Has Become One Of Best American Idol Judges Ever

As a mentor this season on American Idol, BMLG President and CEO Scot Borchetta has had the opportunity to work closely with judge Keith Urban, and he says, “I’ve really been impressed with how quick he is on the draw, because they are expected to say something different and fresh and new every time the mic is turned on. And I think Keith has done a fantastic job in becoming one of the best judges ever on American Idol because he’s able to criticize in a way that is thoughtful and helpful.”

Scott appreciates that Keith not only offers the contestants constructive criticism, but that he also lets them know when they’ve done something well because he says, “At the end of the day, let’s not forget what their job is. It’s to give them criticism to make sure the next time they hit the stage that they have improved.”

You can see new episodes of American Idol every Wednesday night at 8pm ET/7pm CT on FOX.

“Working with Keith Urban this year on American Idol has really been incredible. I’ve really been impressed with how quick he is on the draw, because they are expected to say something different and fresh and new every time the mic is turned on. And I think Keith has done a fantastic job in becoming one of the best judges ever on American Idol because he’s able to criticize in a way that is thoughtful and helpful. It’s not just trashing somebody when he doesn’t like a performance. He tries to give them some pointers on how to do it better and he also is great at identifying specific elements of a performance to go, ‘this is something you should work on, this is something you did really well.’ So at the end of the day, let’s not forget what their job is. It’s to give them criticism to make sure the next time they hit the stage that they have improved.”
