Thomas Rhett is fortunate to share a very honest relationship with his successful songwriter dad, Rhett Akins. Thomas says, “We wrote so many songs together and we’ve had some pretty cool success together and we just kinda have that relationship where it’s just like I’ll write a song and send it to him and see what he thinks about it and can either be like, ‘I’m mean it’s OK’, or he’ll be like, ‘That’s awesome, you should cut it.’”

Thomas appreciates that his dad will tell him the truth about the songs he writes. He says, “We have a pretty honest, open relationship about songs.”

We know Thomas’ dad gave him the thumbs up for his current single, “Make Me Wanna,” which just entered the top five on the charts and continues to climb toward the top.

After playing a show last week in Arizona for the Super Bowl Direct TV event, Thomas Rhett plays Saturday (2/7) in Columbus, Ohio at the Lifestyle Communities Pavilion with Jackie Lee and Mo Pitney. Next week, he gets back on the road with Florida Georgia Line on their “Anything Goes Tour.”
