Growing up, Thomas Rhett was exposed to the music business from the time he was a baby because his dad, Rhett Akins, was a successful artist in the 90’s. Thomas actually started to go to college and thought he might become a physical therapist, but he quickly realized that becoming a performer was practically inevitable. Thomas says, “It wasn’t ‘til I was older that I actually realized that like it was embedded in me. When you grow up with it you don’t really think maybe this is what I’m like born to do, or whatever. But now that I’ve been doin’ it for almost three or four years, I don’t know how to do anything else.”

At this point if he had to choose a different career, Thomas says, “I guess I could probably be in sales, I feel like I’d be decent at that, ‘cause I am selling every night I guess I’m selling myself, not in a weird way.”

Fortunately, Thomas won’t have to consider a job in sales anytime soon since things are going so well for him in his career. He’s got two #1 hits to his credit, and his latest song, “Make Me Wanna,” is continuing to move up the charts.

Thomas Rhett had a busy CMA week last week as he was nominated and performed on Wednesday’s (11/5) CMA Awards. Off the road this week and home in Nashville, Rhett plays his next show on Saturday (11/15) in Houston, Texas at Minute Maid Park.
