Thomas Rhett has two songs on the radio these days, his own new song, “Make Me Wanna,” and he’s on Brantley Gilbert’s “Small Town Throwdown” with Brantley and his good buddy Justin Moore. Thomas says the whole project came together pretty simply. “Honestly I got a phone call one day from Brantley. He’s like, ‘Man, I got this song called ‘Small Town Throwdown’ I want you to be on.’ I said, ‘A’ight, I’m in.’ And he said, ‘Justin’s on it too.’ So me and Justin went in the studio and tracked our verses and just had a good time.”

Thomas spent some time on the road with Brantley opening for him and they became good friends, and he and Justin have been great buddies for a while. Thomas says, “Justin is literally my favorite person on the planet. I love that guy. Me and my wife actually just stayed at his beach house down in Florida. But man, to be a part of the song with both those guys has been awesome.”

WHAT HE’S DOING THIS WEEK – AUGUST 25, 2014 – MONDAY 

Thomas Rhett was featured in a recent issue of Billboard where he said of his latest single “Make Me Wanna,” “I’ve had it since I was 20 years old, so it’s been a long time. When we play the song, we are always coming up with new ways to play the song — which makes it really fun for us. It’s a groovin’ track, one that shows off a different side of who I am. It reminds me of a Saturday Night Fever/Bee Gees sort of thing. I’ve always wanted to put it out, and we’re definitely pumped about it.”

Thomas is touring as part of Miranda Lambert’s “Platinum Tour” this week as the tour plays shows on Thursday (8/28) in Charlottesville, Virginia at the nTelos Wireless Pavilion, On Friday (8/29) in Darien Center, New York at the Darien Lake Performing Arts Center, on Saturday (8/30) in Hartford, Connecticut at Xfinity Theatre and on Sunday (8/31) in Bethel, New York at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts.
