debut single: “WEAK”
Preston Cooper got his break in the country music business when successful songwriting duo The Warren Brothers saw him perform in his home state of Ohio and took an interest in him. They brought him to Nashville and helped get him in writing rooms with some of Nashville’s most talented songwriters. But Preston admits that in the beginning he didn’t always realize the caliber of writers he was getting to write with or how successful they were because he wasn’t the kid that studied liner notes and learned who was writing the hit songs in Nashville.
Preston Cooper – wasn’t familiar with songwriters :21
“I was so untrained in the songwriting industry. I had no idea that other people wrote songs for other people. I always thought the artist just wrote the songs. And I didn’t even know who the Warren brothers was when I met ‘em. I was like, ‘No offense, but I have no clue who you guys are.’ And they’re like, ‘Well, you’re not supposed to.’ I just always seen the front cover, I guess you could say, on everything.”
