As a former athlete, Brett Young definitely has a competitive side, but when it comes to his music, he doesn’t look at other artists as his competition.

“I definitely think that if I’m competing at all, I’m not competing with other artists. I think we should all, as artists, have found our own DNA as a songwriter and as an artist. And so, I really like lifting each other up. That’s my favorite thing about the country music community. So, I think the only competition that I see is with myself. It’s up to me whether or not the songs get better. It’s up to me whether or not the live show and my performance gets better. And so, if I ever feel like I’m kinda slackin’ or there’s more I can be doing, yeah, the competition is completely between me and me.”
