Rascal Flatts is celebrating their 25th anniversary as a band. In those 25 years, they have sold millions of albums and concert tickets, celebrated numerous number one songs and won a multitude of awards, but Jay DeMarcus says no matter where their career takes them, he will never forget his roots, and all the sacrifices his mom made for him when he was growing up.
Rascal Flatts – Jay roots mom :37
Jay DeMarcus – “Every time I go back to Columbus, Ohio, where Gary and I grew up, I make it a point to take a couple hours out of a day that I’m there and drive back to the house where I grew up, the pizza joint I worked at in high school, just to reminisce, to appreciate the fact that I had such a good foundation growing up and that my mom cared so much that I had a great education and that I always had food on the table. She worked really, really hard, three jobs to make sure that I had those things And I never want to forget no matter how big we’ve become or how many records we’ve sold It’s important for me to always go back and remember where I came from and how much that means to me and how grateful I am for my roots.”
