(AUDIO) HEATH SANDERS WAITED EIGHT MONTHS TO WRITE HIS DEBUT SINGLE, “OLD SCHOOL’S IN”

CURRENT SINGLE: “Old School’s In”

Heath Sanders’ debut single, “Old School’s In,” may hold the record in his career for the longest time between when he first got the idea to when he actually got around to writing the song.  Heath explains, “I wrote that with Casey Beathard and Houston Phillips. But I had written a song with Casey Beathard and Jeremy Stover eight months before that, and Casey had the line, ‘old school’s in.’ And I grabbed a hold of that line. It was in the like, a bridge of a song we had written previous.”

Since the song was inspired by Casey Beathard’s line, Heath wanted to write the song with him, but it was a while before they got another writing session on the books.  So, Heath says, “I held onto that line for eight months, and when I finally got back in the room with Casey I said, ‘Dude, I’ve been holding onto your lyric for eight months and I wanna write this song so bad.’  And so we sat down and wrote it.”

Now, “Old School’s In” is Heath’s debut single, and it’s one of the first four songs he released on his Common Ground EP, which is available now.

So, ‘Old School’s In,’ just to preface it a little bit, I wrote that with Casey Beathard and Houston Phillips. But I had written a song with Casey Beathard and Jeremy Stover eight months before that, and Casey had the line, ‘old school’s in.’ And I grabbed a hold of that line. It was in the like, a bridge of a song we had written previous, and I held onto that line for eight months, and when I finally got back in the room with Casey I said, ‘Dude, I’ve been holding onto your lyric for eight months and I wanna write this song so bad.’  And so we sat down and wrote it.”
