CURRENT SINGLE: “Old School’s In”
Although Heath Sanders didn’t start writing songs and considering a career as a country music artist until a few years ago, his love of music was instilled in him at an early age. “My dad bought me a drum set when I was 10 years old,” says Heath. “We lived in a two bedroom house that was about 700 square foot, and I would practice five hours a day. And they would listen to it, and they tolerated it. And I don’t know how,. But that and really church is really what got me into music.”
The other person who had the biggest impact on Heath when it came to music was his grandpa. “My grandpa set the foundation for it all,” says Heath. “There’s a picture somewhere of him handing me his old red guitar. He lit that fire inside of me for music and he never let it die out.”
As a kid, Heath wasn’t allowed to listen to secular music, because his dad was a Pentecostal preacher, but around age 15, he bought his first secular album – Matchbox 20’s Yourself or Someone Like You – and that’s when he developed his love for secular music, and ultimately, country music.
