(AUDIO) HEATH SANDERS BELIEVES HE WOULDN’T HAVE BECOME AN ARTIST IF HE HADN’T WORKED IN THE OIL FIELDS

CURRENT SINGLE: “Old School’s In”

Unlike a lot of country artists, Heath Sanders didn’t grow up thinking he was going to be a country singer.  He lived in a tiny town in Arkansas and had a good job working in the oil fields, and he thought that would be his career until he retired.  But Heath says, “I’ve always, ever since I was a child, as long as I can remember, I’ve always had a song stuck in my head. I wake up with a song in my head, I go to sleep with a song in my head.  I always thought I’d lose my mind cause of it one day, but luckily I still have my sanity. I think I do anyways.”

But because Heath’s job in the oil fields involved a lot of time by himself in a truck, he says, “Being away from everyone and spending 10, 12 hours a day by yourself will submerge you off into music, and finding new music, and finding a new love from new music.”

Eventually, all that time alone listening to music and learning about music and falling in love with music led Heath to try his hand at songwriting and start thinking about going to Nashville one day to see what could happen.”

What happened is Heath made it to Nashville and landed a record deal, and now he has his debut single, “Old School’s In” on the radio, and he says, “I think without the oil field I wouldn’t be here today.”

Heath Sanders – oil field to music  :32

I always thought it would drive me insane, but I’ve always, ever since I was a child, as long as I can remember, I’ve always had a song stuck in my head. I wake up with a song in my head, I go to sleep with a song in my head.  I always thought I’d lose my mind cause of it one day, but luckily I still have my sanity. I think I do anyways.  But, for the last probably four years that I worked in the oil field I worked by myself, just driving around in a truck.  And so being away from everyone and spending 10, 12 hours a day by yourself will submerge you off into music, and finding new music, and finding a new love from new music. So yeah, I think without the oil field I wouldn’t be here today.”
