CURRENT SINGLE: “Old School’s In”
Newcomer Heath Sanders, just released his debut single to radio this week called “Old School’s In.” The song was inspired by Heath’s upbringing in the tiny town of Marshall, Arkansas, population 2,000, where not a lot has changed since he was a kid. “I think that’s really what that song’s about for me,” says Heath. “You go back to my hometown, and I think since I was born, they’ve had one new gas station put in. It’s all the same. So, I just wrote it about my hometown and how they don’t change and they love that. The song says, ‘we don’t need your change where the water tanks grow.’ And that’s the truth.
Prior to making the move to Nashville, just a few years ago, Heath was working in the oil fields of Arkansas, and he says “I know we live in a modern society, but where I’m from, the first thing on your mind is how I’m gonna make that paycheck tomorrow, how I’m gonna secure my family‘s future.”
And it’s those simple values of hard work and taking care of your family that inspired Heath to write “Old School’s In.” “That’s how we see it,” he says. “We love how we live, we love who we are. So, old school’s still in out there, you know.”
“Old School’s In” is one of four tracks on Heath’s debut EP, Common Ground, which is available now.
