Tara Thompson’s debut single, “Someone to Take Your Place,” was actually inspired by another song she had written on her EP called “Boy with a Mobile Home.” Tara explains she was meeting with her co-writers, Leslie Satcher and Alex Cline for the first time. Leslie asked Tara to tell her a little about her music. Tara says, “At the time I didn’t have that much music. All I had was a five song EP, and the foundation of that EP was my song ‘Boy With A Mobile Home’, and that song’s really a self-deprecatin’ song about me comin’ home, there’s the mailbox, there’s the yard, but the trailer’s gone, and the hook like is, ‘well, that’s what I get for fallin’ in love with the boy with a mobile home.’”
As soon as Leslie heard that, she got the idea to write a song about finding someone to take the place of the boy with the mobile home who was gone. Tara says when the idea of “Someone to Take Your Place” was mentioned, “We all immediately agreed on that title, and the rest is really history from there.”
“Someone to Take Your Place” is the first release off of Tara’s forthcoming debut album.

Tara Thompson – song inspiration 1:15
“So, where we got the inspiration for my song, ‘Someone To Take Your Place’, actually came from a song on my album that I didn’t write called, ‘Boy With A Mobile Home’, and it’s funny ‘cause I showed up from my co-write with Alex Cline and Leslie Satcher and I was so nervous ‘cause I had never written with Leslie before, and she’s written so many songs for so many artists, and one in particular was George Strait ‘Troubadour’. I’m a big George Strait fan and so I was already goin’ in there a little nervous and Leslie made me feel so important and so comfortable and we just got to chit chattin’ and she said, ‘Tara, tell me a little bit about your music’, and at the time I didn’t have that much music. All I had was a five song EP, and the foundation of that EP was my song ‘Boy With A Mobile Home’, and that song’s really a self-deprecatin’ song about me comin’ home, there’s the mailbox, there’s the yard, but the trailer’s gone, and the hook like is; well, that’s what I get for fallin’ in love with the boy with a mobile home. And when I told her that, man her face just lit up and you could tell she was thinkin’, then she just spit it out; ‘How about we write a song about someone to take his place.’ Then of course we all immediately agreed on that title, and the rest is really history from there.”
