(AUDIO) Thomas Rhett Imagines What He Would Say If He Won An Award

Thomas Rhett is nominated for the New Artist Award at this year’s CMA Awards, and while he wouldn’t want to jinx anything or get too far ahead of himself by writing out an acceptance speech, he has thought about what he would say or how he would react if he won. Thomas says, “I’m tryin’ not to plan out a speech because every time I plan a speech it changes when I get behind the microphone anyways. I think if I can get my first line dialed in correctly the rest will just kinda come out. So, it’s either gonna be wife, God…or I can’t decide if I wanna make a joke when I walk up there or not. You know?”

Thomas is quick to correct himself and say “if” he gets to walk up there, because he knows he is up against some stiff competition in the New Artist category. Some people are saying Thomas’ new single, “Die A Happy Man,” could get him a nomination for Song of the Year in the future.

The 49th Annual CMA Awards will air live from Nashville on Wednesday, November 4th, at 8pm/7pm CT on ABC.
