(AUDIO) Thomas Rhett Works To Mistake-Proof His Marriage

Thomas Rhett and his wife Lauren were pretty young when they decided to get married three years ago, and a lot of people advised them against it. Fortunately they didn’t listen to that advice, and they’ve now been happily married for three years, come October 12th. Thomas says the key to keeping his marriage strong is realizing that nobody’s perfect and mistakes can happen. With that in mind, he and Lauren set rules and boundaries in their marriage to avoid making mistakes. For instance, Thomas says, “On the road, girls can’t come on my bus, they can’t kiss me on the cheek during meet-and-greet. Those things just don’t fly in my camp and pretty much all my guys are married in my band too, which makes it a lot easier, and so I try to surround myself with people that kinda align their values along the same lines as mine. You just kinda have to set it up where you’re never in a situation to screw up.”

Thomas’ latest single, “Die a Happy Man,” is one he wrote for his wife on his new album, Tangled Up, which is available now.

Thomas Rhett – secret to good relationship :31
“I feel like you have to realize that your marriage is not invincible, and I think you have to realize that it’s very possible for you to mess up, or for her to mess up. So, I think the more guidelines and barriers and rules you have with what you do when you’re away from each other, is the most important thing. Like on the road, girls can’t come on my bus, they can’t kiss me on the cheek during meet-and-greet. Those things just don’t fly in my camp and pretty much all my guys are married in my band too, which makes it a lot easier, and so I try to surround myself with people that kinda align their values along the same lines as mine. You just kinda have to set it up where you’re never in a situation to screw up.”
