(AUDIO) Thomas Rhett Thanks His Mom For Her Good Morals

Thomas Rhett learned a lot about the music business from his dad, Rhett Akins, but he credits his mom with having a big impact on the man he is today. “My mom’s a saint. She’s a very, very sweet lady,” says Thomas. “Growin’ up mom really made sure that I had my head on straight and was always getting me involved in the youth group and always getting me to go on youth group trips and to camps. So she is a big, big reason [I am] the way that I am today.”

Thomas is thankful for his mom’s influence because he says, “Mom just instilled a lot of good morals into me and I have a lot of my mom in me as far as morals go, and you know, just the way that we view life and the way that we love people.”

It means a lot to him to have his mom’s love and support in his career because he says, “She was very skeptical about me getting into this whole thing in the first place, obviously, for good reason. And now that she’s seen me do it she’s very proud of me. She’s one of my biggest fans.”

With three #1 songs to his credit and his new single, “Crash and Burn” climbing the charts, we’re guessing any skepticism Thomas’ mom had about him pursuing a career in music has disappeared.

Thomas Rhett – Mother’s Day :51
“My mom’s a saint. She’s a very, very sweet lady. So you know growing up mom was one of the main people that always took me to football practice, or whenever I had a play she’d always take me. She was always there at everything, you know cause dad was on the road a lot and he couldn’t be at a lot of stuff. So growin’ up mom really made sure that I had my head on straight and was always getting me involved in the youth group and always getting me to go on youth group trips and to camps. So she is a big, big reason the way that I am and the way that I am today, if that makes any sense. Mom just instilled a lot of good morals into me and I have a lot of my mom in me as far as morals go, and you know, just the way that we view life and the way that we love people. So she really rubbed off on me in that aspect and I couldn’t ask for a better mother. She was very skeptical about me getting into this whole thing in the first place, obviously, for good reason. And now that she’s seen me do it she’s very proud of me. She’s one of my biggest fans.”
